Our Pastor
At a Special-Called Business Meeting on SUNDAY, DECEMBER 18, the church voted to accept Dr. Morgan Browning as our new Senior Pastor, with a favorable vote of 388 to 6. We look forward to Pastor Morgan and his wife, Dorothea, joining us around the middle of January.

Pastor Morgan has served as Senior Pastor in churches in Missouri, Texas, and New Mexico. For the past 10 years, he has served as the Minister of Education at First Baptist Church, McAllen, TX, where he taught, wrote Sunday School literature, and provided weekly study notes for the Sunday School teachers. He has written 2 books about the development of a visitation program in rural churches and ministering to senior citizens.

After graduating from high school, Pastor Morgan attended Florida Bible College from 1972-74; received his Diploma in Theology from the Baptist Bible Institute in Graceville, FL, in 1977; a Bachelor of Theology from Hannibal-LaGrange College, MO, in 1978; his Master of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Ft. Worth, TX, in 1981; and his Doctor of Ministry from Luther Rice Seminary, Jacksonville, FL, in 1988.



After meeting on a mission trip to Mexico, Pastor Morgan and Dorothea Turner, who were both widowed, were married in 2010; and she served alongside him at First Baptist-McAllen, while continuing to work as an Intervention Radiation Nurse. Between them, they have 4 sons, 1 daughter, and 12 grandchildren.

Pastor Morgan is a man of prayer who truly loves the Lord. He is passionate about reaching the lost for Christ, shepherding our church, and nurturing our youth. He has a strong desire to see people of all ages involved in the ministry and serving our Lord.

Our Associate Pastor /
Music & Worship


Rev. Clyde H. Murray Jr. joined our staff as Associate Pastor/Music & Worship on August 24, 2009. He and his wife, Shelia, come to us from Rocky Mount, NC, where he had served as Associate Pastor-Worship, Music, Technology and Drama, at Northside Baptist Church. He is an ordained minister with a Bachelor of Music and Music Education; has degrees in Computer Science & Electronics, and Digital Video & Audio Production; and is working toward his Master of Arts at Liberty University.

Clyde has served as Minister of Music at several churches in NC, SC, and Georgia since 1978. He and Shelia have 3 children and 5 grandchildren.
Our Associate Pastor / Youth

On February 12, 2006, the church called Roger L. Jones to serve as our Minister of Youth and Children beginning on March 19, 2006; and he was voted in as Associate Pastor on July 27, 2008. He was born in 1969 in Lemorre, CA; accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior in January 1989; and served as the Minister of Music in 2005 at Mount Hermon Baptist Church, in Durham, NC. Prior to that, he served as Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, youth worker, AWANA JV Director, VBS teacher and Worship Leader, a member of the choir and FAITH team, and was involved in various other ministries and mission trips at North Main Baptist Church in Danville, VA.

He married Martha Prillaman in July 1992. They and their three children, Tate, Makenna , and Jacoby now live in Martinsville, VA. Roger was ordained into the ministry in May 2006, and received his Master of Divinity from Southeastern Baptist theological Seminary in May 2007.

Roger’s wife, Martha, also graduated from Southeastern Seminary with a Master of Arts in Intercultural studies, and was named our Children's Ministry Director on July 27, 2008. She will be over our AWANA (Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed) program for ages 3-grade 5; Kids Worship (for grades 1-5), and Wee Kids Ministry (ages 4 & 5); while Roger will focus on the CHAOS (Christ Honored and Others Served) Youth Program, including "Fuel" (Sunday 4:30 pm), monthly visitation, youth Bible studies on Wednesday night, & the annual Vacation Bible School. Martha and Roger's desire is to minister to youth and children and lead them in active participation in missions at home and abroad.
